Changing a School District Image

Students, parents, teachers, principals, central office staff, superintendents, and school board members all play important roles in school systems. Use the Internet to research a school district in your area and use the information you locate to complete this assignment. Imagine that you are a teacher leader and you have been asked to supply ideas to the selected school district to help it transform into a learning organization with more effective leadership practices.

Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you: Briefly (one (1) paragraph) describe the size and setting of the school district. Determine which metaphor best relates to the school district that you are assisting and explain why it applies. Provide one (1) suggestion that will help to transition the: students’ current role to their role in a learning organization. parents’ current role to their role in a learning organization. teachers’ current role to their role in a learning organization. principal’s current role to his or her role in a learning organization. central office staff’s current role to their role in a learning organization. superintendent’s current role to his or her role in a learning organization. school board’s current role to its role in a learning organization. Provide at least five (5) best practices for effective leadership. Determine how success will be assessed. Include at least three (3) references (no more than five (5) years old) from material outside the textbook.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements: Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
