Climate for Creativity

Evaluate an organization’s climate for creativity in order to foster innovation.

Competency Description:

What is really happening when biases develop in the workplace that either promote or kill creativity in

organizations? And if businesses are killing creativity by focusing on things like coordination, productivity,

and control, does that mean that there might not be room for creativity inside every business? After all, an

efficient organization tends to be a profitable one, but creativity is vital to long-term sustainability.

For this Performance Task Assessment, you will analyze an organization’s culture for attributes that either

promote or inhibit creativity, and consider which priorities may be competing against those creative

efforts. You will then develop strategies for transforming the workplace to promote creativity by turning

negative attributes into positive ones. Your work will be based on three scenarios that simulate authentic

business contexts.

In this Performance Task Assessment you will use information provided in the “Climate for Creativity

Scenarios” to demonstrate your ability to evaluate an organization’s climate for creativity in order to foster

innovation.
