Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity: First Draft

The practice of health care providers at all levels brings you into contact with people from a variety of faiths. This calls for knowledge and acceptance of a diversity of faith expressions. The purpose of this paper is to complete a comparative analysis of health care through the perspective and practices of two faiths, one being the Christian perspective. For the second faith, choose a faith that is unfamiliar to you and is not a Christian Faith such as Judaism, Catholicism, Mormon, Jehova's Witness, ect... Examples of faiths to choose from include Zoroastrianism, Shintoism, Scientology, etc. Google world religions and you can find a plethora of religions to discuss other than the Christian Faith. Choose a faith other than the normal chosen faiths such as Buddhism, Sikhism, or Hinduism. These three faiths will not be acceptable. In your comparative Health Care analysis, address all of the world view questions indirectly in detail for Christianity and your selected faith. This means you will not answer them directly in your paper.  Refer to Chapter 2 of Called to Care for the list of questions.  Be sure to address the implications of these beliefs for health care. Remember this is a Health care paper and not a re-answering of the world view questions as seen from week one. You are taking the knowledge that you have aquired from answering them and apllying them to how you demonstrate how these faiths interact in and through Health Care, and thus indirectly answering the worldview questions. In a minimum of 1,500-2,000 words, provide a comparative analysis of health care through the different belief systems they practice in Health Care, reinforcing major themes with insights gained from your research. Also you will need to answer the following questions based on the research in separate sections making sure to fully address these sections well: What is your spiritual perspective on healing? (APA allows for third person writing, never use first or second person in scholarly writing. This is to be done in the conclusion). What are critical common to all religions/beliefs spiritual components of healing, such as prayer, meditation, belief, etc.? Choose 2 to 3 things and discuss and explain them well. What is important to patients of the faiths when cared for by health care providers whose spiritual beliefs differ from their own, like dietary restrictions, prayer issues, holistic practices, male to female health care restrictions, body part exposure issues, ect... Pick 2 to 3 things and discuss and explain them well. In your conclusion, describe what you have learned from the research and how this learning can be applied to a health care provider? Also make sure to adress your spiritual perspective on healing? This section is what was learned through the research you performed in the above sections. Do not introduce any new information that was not discussed in the body of the paper. Support your position by referencing at least three academic resources (preferably from the GCU Library) in addition to the course readings, the Bible, and the textbooks for each religion. Each religion must have a primary source included. A total of six references are required according to the specifications listed above. The bible while required is never placed in the reference page, it is only cited in text. This means you will have at least 5 references in the reference page as the bible is not referenced. Incorporate the research into your writing in an appropriate, scholarly manner. Also make sure to quote and cite properly. Papers are checked by the professor for citation percentages, so make sure that you do not exceed the 20% citation (10% direct quoting) in this paper as per GCU policy or in any individual section. Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide
